REFLECTION

AE Senior Thesis is a great experience and learning tool for a student about to enter the industry. Studying and then altering buildings existing system not only allows one to become acquainted with typical engineering practices and designs, but also forces one to face design problems which may occur in the field.

The first semester dealt with studying the existing system. This truly helped to strengthen my understanding of various codes and standards, reading construction documents, professional communication, and energy modeling.

The second semester, focusing on the system redesign, was beneficial in making me begin to think as if I was really on the job and understanding how systems work together. This also allowed me to prepare myself for typical system analysis which will be valuable in my professional career, as well and understanding of new immersing technologies that have not been covered much in other classes.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Aaron Shapiro. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
